Deep Roots, Strong Futures

Together, we’re creating a nurturing environment where each child can take root, grow strong, and dream big.

Children of the Valley (COV) continues to Dream Big to deepen our impact across Skagit County. With your support, we are expanding our programs in the Burlington-Edison, Conway, Mount Vernon, and Sedro-Woolley School Districts and building an endowment fund to ensure long-term sustainability.

By growing our reach, we’re ensuring under-resourced children and families have the support they need to grow with confidence, embrace their full potential, and build a brighter future.

Our Dream Big Goal:

$5 Million for Their Future

Capacity Building Fund—$2M

Children of the Valley is growing—and with your support, the $2 million Capacity Building Fund will allow us to serve over 100 additional children across Skagit County. This fund is essential to expanding our footprint and ensure every child has access to safe, enriching, and supportive afterschool programming.

What This Fund Supports:

• Program Expansion: Invest in long-term lease locations and classroom infrastructure in the Burlington-Edison, Conway, Mount Vernon, and Sedro-Woolley School Districts to accommodate growing demand and serve more students.

• Staffing & Supplies: Hire qualified staff and provide essential learning materials to support high-quality, trauma-informed education in every classroom.

• Student Transportation: Purchase 2-3 new vans to ensure students—particularly those at our Burlington-Edison and Sedro-Woolley sites—can safely travel to and from the program. These vans will also unlock access to more enrichment opportunities and field trips, expanding horizons and deepening learning.

Endowment for Sustainability—$3M

Investing in Stability, Securing the Future

As part of the Dream Big Campaign, creating and growing a $3 million Endowment Fund is a vital and ongoing priority. This fund ensures Children of the Valley can continue to serve children and families with excellence—not just today, but for generations to come.

Why It Matters:

The Endowment provides a stable, sustainable source of funding that helps us weather economic changes, plan confidently for the future, and maintain the quality of care and programming our students deserve.

Your investment in the Endowment supports:

  • Long-term financial stability
  • Ongoing staff and program support
  • Resilience through changing times

By giving to the Endowment, you’re ensuring that Children of the Valley can continue to be a beacon of hope, belonging, and opportunity—now and forever.

Burlington-Edison Expansion

Expanding from 2 to 5 Classrooms

In 2021, COV partnered with the Burlington-Edison School District to serve local students. We began with two classrooms at Christ the King Church and have since moved to West View Elementary and now have the opportunity to expand to five classrooms, allowing us to serve even more students and meet increasing community need.

Conway Expansion

Exploring Opportunities for a New Location

COV began serving the Conway School District in 2025 at our Bethany Covenant Church location in Mount Vernon. We are exploring opportunities to establish a permanent location in Conway within the next three years.

Mount Vernon Expansion

Retaining Growth and Creating Permanent Space

COV began in 2006 at Bethany Covenant Church in Mount Vernon. Over the years, we’ve grown to five classrooms and in 2021, expanded to Washington Elementary School. For three years, we served students out of the school cafeteria—a space that limits what we can offer. We’ve since moved into temporary portables at and are exploring opportunities to create a permanent site at Washington Elementary

Sedro-Woolley Expansion

Creating a Permanent Home for Growing Needs

COV currently serves students in the Sedro-Woolley School District through two classrooms at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. The need for services continues to grow, and we’re excited to partner with the school district to expand our footprint with more permanent locations

Van Campaign: Connecting Students to Opportunity

Transportation for Access, Equity & Enrichment

A key barrier for many families is transportation. Our goal is to purchase program vans to:

  • Safely transport students to and from COV
  • Ensure more children can access services
  • Support enrichment field trips and community experiences

Campaign Goal:
  • Purchase 2–3 vans
  • Estimated Cost: $150,000
  • Impact: Increase daily attendance, expand outreach, and reduce barriers for working families

Building Our Future: $3M Endowment

Securing the Future for Generations of Children

Children of the Valley is building a $3 million Endowment Fund to ensure long-term sustainability for our programs and the families we serve. This endowment is held at the Skagit Community Foundation, a trusted partner in stewarding charitable investments that create lasting impact across our region.

With this endowment, we are laying a foundation that will:

  • Provide stable, consistent funding through economic fluctuations
  • Support staff, programs, and services in perpetuity
  • Ensure that every child continues to have a safe, enriching, and nurturing environment for years to come

This is a transformational opportunity to help us Dream Big not just for today, but for the future.
