With the mindset that education has the power to change lives, Ted L. Cummings has joined the COV Board on its Governance Committee, excited to be part of a larger solution that helps bridge the educational gap for children in need within the Skagit Valley.
“I am eager to contribute to an organization that works so tirelessly to provide children in our community an opportunity to overcome their unique life struggles and realize their dreams,” Ted stated. “In five years, I would love to see COV in a sustainable position that is capable of serving all students in need across Skagit County.”
Offering 30 years of professional experience as an electrician, Ted is currently a Staff Electrical Planner at Marathon Petroleum Refinery in Anacortes. Over his career, he has gained valuable experience working within the electrical construction / plan maintenance industry in various roles ranging from supervisor and planner to inspector and journeyman mechanic. Ted received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Washington University and his Associates of Arts from Skagit Valley College. He is a Washington State 01 licensed Journeyman Electrician.
Ted is no stranger to community service. Currently serving on the Board of Directors for Bargains Galore Thrift Store, he has also served on the Mount Vernon Christian School Board from 2011-2017 and as a member of the Bethany Covenant Church diaconate from 2012-2018.
Ted resides in Skagit Valley with his wife, Cindy, of 25 years. Together, they have two grown children: their son, Tim, and daughter, Liz. In his free-time, he enjoys working on home construction and remodel projects, nature walks with his wife, listening to music on his record player, and rooting on the Seattle Mariners and Seahawks.
What Ted considers applicable to every aspect of life, his philosophy has always been to “start well and finish well.”
