Dr. Victor Vergara is a visionary educational leader with over 20 years of experience driving systemic change in public education. Currently serving as Superintendent of Mount Vernon School District, he is a passionate advocate for equity, bilingual education, and student empowerment.
Dr. Vergara has been at the forefront of transformative educational initiatives throughout his career, impacting school systems across Washington and Oregon. His leadership has driven the successful implementation of dual language programs, reforms in multilingual education, and the advancement of culturally responsive leadership practices.
Through dedicated commitment to data-informed decision-making, inclusive policy development, and meaningful community engagement, Dr. Vergara has consistently raised student achievement. His impactful work spans several districts—including Edmonds, Federal Way, Walla Walla, Woodburn, and Portland Public Schools—demonstrating a sustained dedication to educational excellence and equity wherever he serves.
Dr. Vergara holds a Ph.D. in Education, Policy, and School Foundations from Portland State University and has been awarded numerous statewide leadership awards including Middle School Principal of the year, Latino High School Principal of the year, and Administrator of the year. As the founder and past president of WALAS (Washington Association of Latina/o Administrators & Superintendents), he continues to champion equity and representation in educational leadership.
